Kupi kupi

55.9cm x 91.4cm

This story is about a kupi kupi (willy willy), at a place called Ninawara. At Ninawara, those two sisters are sitting down and digging for a ninu, a bilby. The older sister says "hey, listen. A big wind is coming." They get scared and they run and hide behind some trees.  I heard this story from the senior ladies, Mrs T. James and my grandmother Lydi Napurula. The sisters came from a long way south and they keep travelling a long way, past Docker River to the north.

Marlene's unique style is reminiscent of celestial bodies – fields of coloured punu (dotting), meandering lines, circular motifs and beautiful, changing patterns.
