Kuruyurltu

30.5cm x 40.6cm

Acrylic on canvas

Kuruyurltu depicts a sacred rockhole in Mrs T. Porter’s ancestral land, located west of Tjukurla.

The painting narrates a Dreaming story in which the Owl Man escapes from the Tingarri people and is pursued across the land. Mrs Porter’s use of muted desert colors captures the stillness and power of this ancient place. The rockhole at Kuruyurltu, where her family collected water, remains an important cultural site, and her work honors its continuing significance.
