Pangkupirri - Tjawina by Tjawina Porter captures the grandeur of the mountain range and rockhole that form a significant part of her family’s Dreaming. Using vibrant red, ochre, and white tones, Porter’s meticulous dotting and brushwork evoke the sacred landscape where the Mountain Devil Woman and Mountain Dove Man once lived. The spiritual energy of these ancestral beings is still felt in the rocks and trees of Pangkupirri, and Porter’s painting honors this living connection. Her balanced composition and intricate details offer viewers a glimpse into the sacred geography of the Western Desert.
