Tali Tjukurpa

40.6cm x 55.9cm

Acrylic on canvas

In Tali Tjukurpa, Joy Jackson paints the sandhills (tali) of her mother’s homeland in Warakurna. Her bold, contemporary approach captures the undulating patterns and colors found in the desert. The painting represents not just the physical landscape, but also the emotional and spiritual connection Jackson has to this land, where she learned to collect bush tucker and listen to the stories of her elders.

Joy Jackson
Joy paints tjukurrpa (dreaming stories) from a number of her family's traditional homes across the Ngaanyatjarra lands.
