In Yarrngawarli, Mrs T. Porter offers a visual story about an important water source, a fresh claypan known to her family. This place is rich with stories of survival and cultural rites.

The painting tells the tale of two mischievous boys who were turned to stone, creating landmarks that her family still visits and honours today.

Mrs Porter’s sweeping lines and punctuated dotting lead the viewer through the landscape, reflecting the energy of the place. The use of earth tones highlights the claypan’s enduring presence amidst sandhills.
