“This painting is about the important places around Karku – where you get red ochre for business. The emus were travelling from over the border on the NT side; they came to the Ngangtjarra side and joined our tribe. All the emus went to Karku and turned to red ochre. One was standing and it dove into the ground and all the others followed. You use the ochre for men’s business...” (full Karku story retained)
