Kungka Kutjara II

30.5cm x 40.6cm

This work captures a pivotal segment of the Two Women creation story, significant to the Kaltukatjara area. Martha, a senior law woman, translates her profound connection to the land and her heritage into bold shapes and colors.

The painting showcases one of the large shade trees under which the sisters rested. These are surrounded by the textured landscape of kapi (rock holes), purnu (trees), and puli (rocks).

Martha Protty
Martha, a senior law woman, has been painting, weaving tjanpi (desert grasses) and carving purnu (wooden sticks) for many years.
