Ngunytjuku Ngurra

This painting depicts a place near to Tjukurla, Nerida’s mother’s country.  She cannot say the name of this place, as it is the place of an important Tjukurpa (creation stories), where the Porcupine pushed that big Perentie lizard out of the way.  

The Porcupine was really angry, jealous, because the Perentie had been loving that Porcupine’s wife. He went looking around for that Perentie, found him and pushed him out of the way, blocking his path. The porcupine did not want him to pass though.  

The porcupine and the perentie became the mountains in this country, they are still here now.

All works are shipped insured, tracked and express through TNT or Australia Post. Please be mindful of our remote location when awaiting your purchase, all freight leaves our communities on the once-weekly mail plane.
